We are constantly coming across people with email issues and especially those using systems such as Outlook. So I decided to write an article to explain why you should use a cloud based email.
When we tell people who have been using Outlook for the past ten years that they need to change to Gmail or another cloud-based software the look of horror is enough to make a small child cry. In fact, it’s like you were asking them to give up their first born.
You see, humans are creatures of habit so asking people to change their habits creates fear and overwhelm. It involves having to learn something new, which is usually only reserved for the more adventurous types. It’s going to take time, which is such a rare commodity these days. And it’s going to cost money…yikes!
So why would you change to a cloud-based email then? For the exact same reasons you are afraid to change. But before I explain what those are, let me clarify for you what I mean by a cloud based email system.
A cloud based email system is one that is not hosted on your computer. Email programs such as Outlook are set up to be sitting in your computer. So, if something happens to your computer such as being stolen, gets damaged, or crashes, then you can say bye bye to your beloved emails.
In a cloud-based email system your emails sit on a server that has backups upon backups, has the highest of highest security, and are available to you anywhere in the world, on any type of device, at any time, as long as you have internet.
In this modern day and age it makes sense to have your emails stored in the cloud than on your little laptop or home computer. But let’s break it down here for those who are sitting in the fear and overwhelm. Here are the reasons why you should choose a cloud based email:
1. Save time
If the inevitable happens and you lose your computer or even if you decide to buy a new one, it’s going to take a very long time to transfer all of your contacts, details, emails, folders etc etc etc In fact, if someone steals your computer or it gets damaged there is a possibility that you will never see those again.
Now that might seem a great way to clean up your inbox but it isn’t recommended if you enjoy living and breathing stress free. Now if you had your information in a cloud based system, it doesn’t matter what happens to your computer because you can go visit your mumma and use her computer to access the internet and boom! There are all your emails, contacts and calendar just as you left them…happy days!
2. Save money
I’m not going to repeat what I just said above in point one but lets say something happens and you need to restore all of your emails, contacts and folders etc, if you have a computer based system then it’s going to take a lot of time which of course means it’s going to cost you a lot of money to get those back. Even if it’s your super geek brother’s nephew doing it, you will owe him for a long time. If it’s cloud-based the cost is zero!
3. Something new
This is not something to be feared peoples! When you learn something new it brings with it an expanded mind and freedom. This is the case with having your emails cloud based. You will then be part of the ‘cool kids’ group but more importantly you will be functioning in the 21st century and be able to link up your emails to all your devices which will give you the freedom to manage them anywhere, any time and on any device. How cool is that!
So what are you waiting for…go step into your confidence and become the coolest in your friends group and go tell them all why you should use a cloud based email. I guarantee they’ll be impressed.
